Smoothing Shapes (riteShape)

riteMail can automatically help you create simple shapes, arrows, delimiting lines, etc. using the riteShape feature.  To toggle this feature on and off, click the riteShape button.  It appears normal when riteShape is disabled, and pressed when riteShape is enabled:

    (disabled)         (enabled)

With riteShape enabled, drawing a circle that on the left will produce a smoothed circle like that on the right:

The riteShape feature can be used in many ways, as shown below:

riteShape helps you smoothen the following categories of "regular" shapes:

  • circles and ovals

  • squares and rectangles

  • triangles

  • arrows

To draw an arrow, first draw the straight "body" line and then immediately add the arrow pointer(s) near its end(s).

riteShape will also help smooth various "irregular" shapes as depicted below:

You may want to disable this feature when writing (as opposed to drawing) in order to avoid possible confusion. Note that the Undo button, when applied to recognized shapes, first recovers your original strokes converted to shapes, and then clears them. This helps you to freely mix shapes and handwriting without concerning too much about toggling the riteShape button every time you move from drawing  to writing text.
