Receiving Messages

You can receive riteMail messages on your Palm handheld in two ways:
  • via direct Internet connection (wireless or other) from your POP3 or IMAP accounts
  • by synchronizing your desktop mailbox using HotSync

In order to receive your messages via direct Internet connection, you first need to set up a Mail account. Select the Mail->Mail accounts menu item to open the Mail accounts dialog box.

At the beginning, it will only include the default HotSync account. Click New to set up a new mail account. When the Account settings window pops up, fill in or select the following info:

  • Type in Account name

  • Choose Server type (POP3 or IMAP)

  • Choose Folder on your Palm handheld to receive messages from this mail account

  • Enter the name of the incoming mail Server for your personal or corporate mailbox and your User ID and Password for your mailbox on that server

  • Choose the synchronization period (Time filter) for your correspondence

  • Check the Delete messages on server box if you want your messages to be cleaned on the server after downloading on your Palm device

  • Press OK to complete setup of your mail account

You can edit mail account settings as any time.

To receive riteMail messages from any account, select that account in the Mail menu. Or, select Receive all mail... to download riteMail messages from all accounts (except HotSync) to your Palm handheld.

The built-in "HotSync" email account receives messages from your desktop and communicates with the default desktop email client during the HotSync operation. This account cannot be deleted from your riteMail application. Any additional account can be deleted at any time.
