Installing and Starting
riteMail
Install
riteMail from your desktop or laptop PC as follows:
1. Connect your Palm Handheld to your PC.
2. Double-click the riteMail Setup icon on your PC, to launch the
riteMail Setup application. Follow the prompts. The setup program
will first install the desktop portion of riteMail application.
The
Setup program will first offer you to enter user information.
In
a few installations steps, you will be asked to choose the version of Palm
OS running on your device. riteMail for Palm Handhelds installs different
software on the Palm OS 3.5-4X devices and Palm OS 5.X devices, please
make your choice carefully!
During
the installation, riteMail will connect to the default email client
on your desktop. If this client has a few profiles, you will be requested
to edit mail settings by choosing a profile and supplying the password for
the chosen profile:

then will prompt you to transfer the .prc file to your mobile device.
Press Done button on that screen.
You
will then have to synchronize your Palm Handheld
The
.prc file will be transferred to your Palm handheld.
At
the end of installation, you will be prompted to sign up with the riteMail
service and directed to the registration page. If you have a commercial
version of riteMail, then you may already have an automated
registration and may ignore this step. If you are a new user of the trial
version of riteMail, we recommend that you register and create the riteMail
account. This will allow you to send handwritten emails that recipients
can view on any desktop or on other mobile device.
To
start riteMail on your Palm Powered device, click on its button in the application menu as with any
other software for Palm Handhelds.
Reinstalling/Upgrading
riteMail
If
you have installed riteMail previously, running this installation program
will cause an InstallShield window to appear with three standard options: Reinstall/Upgrade
application, Modify application components, and Uninstall
application. Select the default, Reinstall/Upgrade application
to install a new upgrade or to repair a corrupt installation. Select Modify
application components to add or remove components of the application
from your PC. Select Uninstall application to uninstall riteMail
from your PC. (Note, to uninstall riteMail from your Palm Powered handheld
itself, you must use the App->Delete menu choice from your handheld’s
Application Launcher).
Once you have made your selection, proceed with the rest of the installation or
with the un-installation by following the on-screen prompts.
