You
download handwritten messages to your Pocket PC from one or more of
your corporate or personal mailboxes. You can download them to your device
either via Internet connection from your POP3 or IMAP server or by
synchronizing your default desktop mail client with your Pocket PC using
ActiveSync. Handwritten messages from your Pocket PC can be sent through
custom mail systems or via riteMail
service. By communicating via riteMail service, you ensure
that your recipients are able to receive, view and respond to your letters on
any connected and Java-enabled desktop computer without installing riteMail
client software. If you send handwritten messages through other mail systems,
without using riteMail service, recipients of your handwritten
messages will need to download and install riteMail software on their desktops
to view and respond to them. Downloading riteMail software is easy,
the download location is provided with every riteMail message (see
Digital Ink Messaging Options for details).
Sending
handwritten messages via riteMail service
riteMail
service delivers your handwritten letters to recipients, temporarily keeps
copies of the letters on its secure servers, and renders them on desktops
using Java-based riteMail client software or automatically converts them
to images. Handwritten letters will appear in the
body of emails in HTML-enabled email clients, and recipients will be able
to instantly
respond to your letters in their own handwriting.
In
order to use riteMail service, you must be
registered prior to sending your first handwritten letter. You also
have to complete the
User form on your Pocket PC, located in the Tools->Setup menu.
If you do not have riteMail registration, we recommend you to
register on the riteMail site during the installation and prior
to completing the User form on your mobile device. You may already have the riteMail
registration if you used riteMail Web Edition or if you
downloaded other riteMail clients from the riteMail
Web site or from partner sites.
[more online info on riteMail registration]
- If
you already have riteMail registration, please make sure that
the Email Address on your Pocket PC you enter
when filling out your User form is one of your registered emails
in your personal profile, kept with your riteMail
account.
Note.
To add email addresses to your riteMail profile, use the "Update
my profile" link on the riteMail site.
-
If you start using riteMail without registration, or if you enter a
non-registered Email Address in the User form while using riteMail
service to deliver your messages, then, upon sending your first riteMail
message, riteMail service will automatically register your email under a new
profile and you will receive a notification letter with the password,
which will allow you to access and update your riteMail profile.
Sending handwritten messages through custom mail systems
To send handwritten letters without using riteMail service, you have to
properly set up and configure riteMail's Delivery settings, as
explained in section
Customizing riteMail.
