Receiving and Viewing Messages

riteMail messages arrive to mailboxes, corresponding to one or more accounts. The accounts may correspond to Pocket Outlook (Inbox application) folders or to direct server connections.

Every Service in Pocket Outlook (Inbox application) has the  corresponding riteMail account.

When Pocket Outlook is synchronized, riteMail messages arriving to the corresponding email addresses are automatically extracted and placed into Inbox folders of the corresponding accounts.

Internet mail accounts

In addition to Inbox accounts, you can create IMAP4 or POP3 accounts to receive riteMail messages directly from SMTP mail servers into riteMail's local folders. Open the the Receiving tab of the Tools->Setup item.

To add a new account, tap New. You will have to select the type of server (IMAP4 of POP3), the synchronization period, and may optionally choose to leave messages on the server.

On the next screen, enter mail server address, along with user name and password.

To finalize the setup of a new incoming account, enter the account name and specify the riteMail local folder where you want the messages from that account to be arriving.

You can edit the existing accounts at any time by selecting the needed account from the list and changing the options.

The IMAP4 and POP3 accounts you have added as explained above will appear in the Tools menu. Selecting such account from the menu will instantly start downloading messages from the respective server.

Once you have set up riteMail to receive messages via a direct (wireless or wired) Internet connection or synchronization with your PC, riteMail messages will appear in the riteMail Message folder for the same period of time as your regular Inbox application.

Tap on a message in the riteMail Inbox to open it.  Tapping the OK button in the top right corner closes the message and offers you to store it.  Stored messages are always named by subject.

The riteMail View Message Toolbar includes two items:

  • Message: This opens the Message Menu, which has the following options:

    • View Settings: You may view the message with zoom of  400%, 200%, or 100% (4x/2x/1x).
    • Reply: Opens the selected message with the Message Separator ("splitter") for your reply. See Replying to Messages.
    • Delete: Deletes the selected message.
    • Copy: Places a copy of the selected message in the desired folder.  Use the pull-down menu to select the folder you wish to copy the selected message to, then tap the OK button.
    • Move: Moves the selected message to the desired folder.  Use the pull-down menu to select the folder you wish to move the selected message to then tap the OK button.
    • Save to file: Saves the message as an .itp file into one of the local riteMail folders.
    • Beam: Beams the message to another Pocket PC or IR-compatible device.
  • Reply arrow: Clicking the Reply arrow opens the currently selected riteMail message with a separator bar allowing you to compose your reply.  See Replying to Messages.
